Today I received a nice email from Packt Publishing Ltd asking me if I wanted to write a review about the new Pentaho Reporting 3.5 for Java Developers Book.
I've quite some books to read currently about OLAP and Data Warehouse Design, but I'll try to speed up to provide a review about this exciting new book in the next few months. So stay tuned!
Hi,
ReplyDeletewhat are you reading on OLAP and Data Warehouse Design? I want to start reading more about it too.
I am a Crystal Reports Server user and am just starting the Pentaho Plunge. I bought both Pentaho Solutions and Will Gorman's book. I found both very helpful so far. I have tried experimenting with Pentaho in the past but found frustration with "getting it to work" within my allotted time (meaning my data, my reports)!
ReplyDeletePlease keep up the blogs. They are very useful!
@ Benjamin: I ordered "The Data Warehouse Toolkit" which is quite a famous book. I am currently reading "OLAP Solutions", which was written by Erik Thomsen. For MDX I can recommend "Microsoft SQL Server 2008 MDX Step by Step", which offers an excellent introduction into MDX and is for the most part not only Microsoft focused. (MDX was actually originally created by Microsoft.)
ReplyDelete@ Steve: Yes, without books it is quite difficult to start Pentaho. This is also why I started writing a blog about it, as I wanted to share my hard learned experience, so that other users don't go through the same trouble of finding the correct information. Thanks, I'll try to keep on posting some hopefully useful blogs.
